St Kitts Monkey -vs- The St Kitts Monkey Man

This was a great picture of a monkey in St Kitts being corrected for acting silly. The monkey man was very close to his pet monkeys and was able to talk to them and tell them to behave when one was jumping around and not sitting still. He seemed to have them trained pretty well. I absolutely love the expression on both of their faces. It's like they know each other all too well. It's amazing how similar they act to us at times. and their facial expressions seem to say it all.

How Did Green Vervet Monkeys get to St Kitts

The green vervet monkeys orriginally arrived is St Kitts when the French occupied the island sporadically in the time frames of 1665 to 1690.

They brought them as pets. Eventually the French were deported and the monkeys were not allowed to enter the boats so they were abandoned on the island.
This did not pose a threat for them because St Kitts had ideal climate and vegitation with no enemies. They began to multiply  and to date they have out-populated humans on the island. There are 1.25 monkeys for every human. The current population of monkeys on St Kitts is about 53,000.

4 Green Vervet Monkeys On a Bike in St Kitts

We stopped at the grocery store and on our way in we saw four green vervet monkeys on the handle bars of a bike.The man who owned them let us take some pictures of them and told us that these monkeys are how he makes a living. When tourists get off the cruise ship they are likely to meet them and for a small fee you can hold them and have your picture taken with them. St Kitts has a lot of monkeys but the best chance of seeing one is through one of the local monkey men. You can also go driving through the south peninsula and stop by the beaches and quite possibly you may have one come and steal your alcoholic beverage on the beach. Our St Kitts Monkeys Experience

• Here is one of our favorite experiences with St Kitts Monkeys. These are young monkeys. They were very easy to hold. and they were so cute when they held onto each other. This video takes place on the island of St Kitts in the federation of St Christopher and Nevis, in a small village called Belle Vue. The Dieppe Bay Monkey Man came to the village and had his monkeys with him and he let us play with them. He was a very friendly man who was very knowledgeable about monkeys in St Kitts because he has a lot of them as pets.
